Terms of Use
The agreement between you and Zenbyte for the forWalking app.
The short version
- Yours to use. You may use forWalking on your own devices for your own walks.
- Free, with Premium if you want more. Premium is a one-time lifetime purchase or a weekly subscription, both sold by Apple or Google. A subscription renews until you cancel it in your store account, and refunds go through the store.
- Not a medical device. Steps, distance and calories are estimates.
- Stay safe. Watch the traffic, never use the app while driving, and respect local laws and private property.
- Your photos stay yours. You are responsible for what you share.
- Keep a backup. Your walks are stored only on your phone, and we cannot restore them.
- Your consumer rights stay. Nothing here takes away the rights consumer law gives you.
Effective date: 10 October 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Zenbyte ("we", "us") for the forWalking: Tours Map Photos app ("forWalking", "the app"). By downloading or using forWalking, you accept these Terms. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy, published on forwalking.app, which explains how the app handles information.
1. Who we are
forWalking is made by Zenbyte. You can reach us at [email protected].
To accept these Terms you must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live. If you are not, please use forWalking only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms for you.
2. Your licence to use forWalking
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to download forWalking and use it on devices you own or control, for your own use, in line with these Terms and the rules of the store you got it from.
forWalking, including its design, code, text, graphics, sounds and name, belongs to Zenbyte or its licensors. The licence lets you use the app; it does not transfer ownership of it. Open source components, fonts, map data and the music included in the app are provided under their own licences, which you can find in the app under Licences.
You may not:
- copy, modify, sell, rent, lend or sublicense the app, or distribute it outside the stores;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where the law allows this regardless of these Terms;
- get around Premium or other technical limits of the app;
- use the app or the maps in it in breach of the law or of the map providers' terms, for example by downloading map tiles in bulk;
- use the app to harm, harass or spy on other people.
3. App Store and Google Play
You get forWalking from the Apple App Store or Google Play, so your use is also subject to that store's terms: the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions or the Google Play Terms of Service. Where these Terms and the store's rules differ about how the store works, such as payments, refunds or family sharing, the store's rules apply.
If you use forWalking on an Apple device
These Terms are our end user licence agreement for forWalking. On any point they do not cover, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA) applies. In addition, you and we agree that:
- Parties: these Terms are between you and Zenbyte only, and not with Apple. Zenbyte, not Apple, is solely responsible for forWalking and its content.
- Scope of the licence: your licence is a non-transferable licence to use forWalking on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the app may also be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
- Maintenance and support: Zenbyte is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for forWalking. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for it.
- Warranty: Zenbyte is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed. If forWalking fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation of any kind with respect to forWalking, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are Zenbyte's responsibility.
- Product claims: Zenbyte, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to forWalking or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- Intellectual property: if a third party claims that forWalking or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, Zenbyte, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance: you confirm that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms: you must comply with any third-party agreements that apply when you use forWalking, such as your mobile data plan.
- Third-party beneficiary: Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple has the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
- Questions and claims: please send any questions, complaints or claims about forWalking to Zenbyte, using the contact details in section 17.
If you use forWalking on Android
Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for forWalking. The Google Play Terms of Service and Google Play's policies apply to your download and your purchases.
4. Free features and Premium
What is free
Recording walks, routes, maps, replays and trail cards are free. The free version has some limits, for example on how many of your past walks the Journal and the Atlas show and how many photos each walk keeps. Walks beyond the limit are still recorded and kept on your phone. We may change the free features and limits over time. Such changes never take away Premium you have already paid for.
Premium
Premium lifts the free limits and adds the extra features described in the app. It is offered as:
- Lifetime: a one-time purchase; nothing renews. "Lifetime" means for as long as we offer and support forWalking on your platform. It is not a promise that the app will be available forever.
- Weekly subscription: a subscription that renews automatically every week.
The price, in your currency and including any taxes, is shown in the app and by the store before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple Account or Google account when you confirm the purchase.
Automatic renewal and cancelling
- The weekly subscription renews automatically at the end of each week, and your store account is charged for the next week, unless you cancel.
- On the App Store, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current week to avoid being charged for the next one. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the week ends.
- On Google Play, the subscription renews until you cancel it.
- You can cancel at any time in your store account settings: on iPhone in Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions; on Android in the Google Play app under Payments and subscriptions, or at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.
- Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- After you cancel, Premium stays on until the end of the week you have already paid for.
- If the price of the subscription ever changes, the store tells you in advance and, where required, asks for your agreement before charging the new price.
Refunds
Apple and Google sell and bill Premium, so we cannot issue refunds ourselves. You can request a refund from Apple or from Google Play under their policies and the law that applies to you. This does not limit any right to a refund or to withdraw from the purchase that consumer law gives you.
Restoring purchases
Premium is tied to your store account. On a new phone, or after reinstalling forWalking, tap "Restore" on the Premium screen or "Restore purchases" in the app's settings, signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account.
5. Health and safety
- Not a medical device. forWalking is for general fitness and enjoyment. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition and is not a substitute for medical advice. Talk to a doctor before you start a new exercise routine, especially if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or have not been active for a while.
- The figures are estimates. Steps come from your phone's sensor, distance from satellite positioning, and calories from a formula based on your distance and the body weight you enter. Signal, buildings, trees, how you carry your phone and the phone itself all affect them, and the app does not always tell walking and riding apart correctly. Do not rely on them for medical, safety or legal decisions.
- Watch where you are going. Keep your eyes on your surroundings rather than the screen, especially near traffic and when crossing streets. Stop in a safe place before you use the camera or study the map.
- Never use it while driving. Do not handle forWalking while you drive, cycle or control any vehicle. If a walk keeps recording while you travel, leave the phone alone until you have safely stopped.
- Walks and tours are at your own risk. You choose where you go. A route you record, follow or receive from someone else may cross roads, private land or closed or unsafe areas, and map data can be wrong or out of date. Check the conditions, weather and terrain, and know your limits.
- Respect local laws and private property. Follow traffic rules, signs and access rules, and only enter places where you are allowed to be. Respect other people's privacy and local rules when you take photos.
- Do not depend on it in an emergency. Recording uses satellite positioning and battery. forWalking is not a navigation or emergency device, so carry what you need to stay safe.
6. Your content
Your walks, routes, photos, captions and notes are yours. They are stored on your phone, we have no access to them, and we claim no rights over them. If you send us something, such as an email with feedback, you allow us to use it to answer you and to improve forWalking. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, without owing you anything for them.
You are responsible for what you share from forWalking and where you share it. Share only photos, music and other content you have the right to share, respect the privacy of people who appear in your photos, and remember that routes and photo locations can reveal where you live or spend your time. The music included in the app may be used in the videos you make with forWalking; music you add from your phone must be yours to use.
7. Keep your own backup
forWalking stores your data only on your phone. We do not keep a copy and cannot recover lost walks or photos. Deleting the app, resetting it, or losing or replacing your phone without a device backup can mean losing them for good. Use your phone's backup, and export or share anything you want to keep elsewhere as well.
8. Third-party services
forWalking works with services run by others, each with its own terms and privacy policy: Apple Maps on iPhone; map tiles from CARTO with map data from OpenStreetMap contributors; the App Store and Google Play; Google Firebase for optional usage data and crash reports; Google Maps and Apple Maps when you open map links; and the apps you share to. We are not responsible for these services, their content or their availability, and they may change or stop in ways we cannot control.
9. Changes to the app
We keep improving forWalking, so features may be added, changed or removed, and you may need an update to keep using it. Phones, operating systems and stores change too, so we cannot promise that forWalking will work on every device or system version. We may also stop offering the app. If a change removes a significant part of Premium you have paid for, we will treat you fairly and as consumer law requires.
10. Disclaimers
We work hard to make forWalking reliable, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will be free of errors or interruptions, that every walk will be recorded completely, or that its figures, maps and travel detection will always be accurate. This does not limit any guarantee the law gives you as a consumer that cannot be excluded, such as the legal guarantee that digital content matches its description and works as it should.
11. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude.
Subject to that, and as far as the law allows:
- we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable when you started using forWalking, or for indirect or consequential losses;
- we are not liable for loss of data that a backup would have prevented;
- we are not liable for injuries, accidents, fines or damage arising from where and how you walk, travel or take photos, unless we caused them;
- our total liability for all claims relating to forWalking is limited to the amount you paid for Premium in the 12 months before the claim arose.
If you are a consumer, these limits apply only as far as the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live allows.
12. Your rights as a consumer
If you use forWalking as a consumer, you keep every right that mandatory consumer law in your country gives you, including, where they apply, the European Union's and Turkey's rules on digital content and distance contracts. Nothing in these Terms is meant to limit those rights.
13. Ending these Terms
You can stop using forWalking at any time by deleting it. If you have a subscription, cancel it in your store account as well. We may end your licence if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms. When the licence ends, you must stop using the app. The parts of these Terms that by their nature should continue, such as those on your content, disclaimers, liability and disputes, continue to apply.
14. Disputes
If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects the protection that the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live gives you, including your right to bring a claim before the courts where you live. Consumers in Turkey may also apply to the consumer arbitration committees (tüketici hakem heyetleri) or the consumer courts. Please write to us first: most problems can be solved with one email.
15. General
If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in force. If we do not enforce a right at once, we have not given it up. We may transfer these Terms to a company that takes over forWalking, provided your rights under them are not reduced. These Terms, together with the store terms mentioned in section 3, are the whole agreement between you and us about forWalking.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms, for example when we change forWalking or when the law changes. We will publish the new version with a new effective date and, for important changes, tell you in the app or on our website before they take effect. If you keep using forWalking after that, the new Terms apply. If you do not agree with them, you can stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
